I received my formal musical education at Boston's Berklee College of Music as an Applied Music (Piano), Composition major. I must say that Berklee provided a great musical foundation and analysis tools I still use every single day. Berklee's "Big Band Arranging Guru", Mr. Herb Pomeroy had some great "richness vs. dissonance" concepts that still resonate in my soul. After college, real-world/hands-on learning came from actually working with dynamic, "listening" musicians... both live and in the studio. Today, I continue to surround myself with music and rhythms from an assortment of genres. If something sounds real good, tickling the ear - I still enter "Glen's Analysis mode" pondering "WHY did that sound so good?" "WHAT made that touch me emotionally?"

As a sideman, I have worked with a multitude of international and Hawaii-based artists..... Keali'i Reichel, NaLeo Pilemehana, Cecilio & Kapono, Kalapana, Michael Paulo, John Cruz, Seawind's Pauline Wilson, Lea Salonga, Hubert Laws, Azure McCall, the Hawaiian Style Band, Rocky Brown, Martin Nievera, David Choy, Rachel Gonzales, Robert Shinoda's Nueva Vida, Shawn Ishimoto, Zanuck Lindsey, Nohelani Cypriano, Hula Joe & the Hut Jumpers, Bruce Hamada, the Motor City Angels, Bohdisatva (a Steely Dan cover band), Fred Schreuders, Ginai, Alysa Randolph/Jess Gopen, Sunway, Mathew Pederson's Jamarama Productions (for kids), Moe Keale, Music Magic, Asian Blend, the Dick Jensen Show, the Legends In Concert Show, Danny Couch, Don Ho, Sydette & Company, the Aliis, the Honolulu Symphony and the "late" Loyal Garner.

I also studied Information Technology, starting out at the Kapiolani Community College while working as a full-time musician. I basically did this to assure myself that my brain was still "functioning" in my mid-20's, after doing some "major partying" in my early-20's. Ironically, this path eventually lead into a IT career - working for Island Insurance as a Systems Analyst in downtown Honolulu for several years and later, for the Hawaii Health Systems Corp . This really worked out well then, as I was then raising my son Randy as a single parent. It's been a totally "interesting ride"... working in two vastly different professions simultaneously (as a musician and as an IT professional), while single-handedly raising a son.
